Kuwaiti Liberal: Claims of Jewish Control of World Media are False

by MEMRI

In a sarcastic article in the Kuwaiti daily Al-Watan, liberal Kuwaiti journalist Khalil 'Ali Haidar mocks the claims that Israel and the Jews control world media and are responsible for morally corrupting Arab and Muslim societies. Haidar also rejects the usage of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion to besmirch the Jews. According to him, unlike Israel and the Jews, it is actually Arabs and Muslims who invest major capital in various satellite channels to promote their interests, while there is not even a single Israeli satellite channel in the region.

Following are excerpts from the article:[1]

"Israel and the Jews are often accused of controlling global press, television, and all media. However, [we must ask]: How many Israeli TV stations, or TV stations that [are controlled] by Jews, [target the audience of] the addicted Arab viewers? Who controls the satellites, the channels, and the broadcasts?...

"There are 300, 400, or even 1,000 Arab stations and channels. There are many Palestinian channels – the PLO has one, and so does Hamas, and perhaps other elements, as well – while not a single Israeli channel can be found on the known satellite [networks]. And if there is a private channel, it is barely known to anyone [in the region].

"And so, while Hollywood is 'in the hands of the Jews,' TV and movie production is in the hands of 'Jewish fortune,' and the American media is all 'in the service of Israel,' there is no trace of the Jews and their state among the Middle Eastern channels. Has no one noticed this [fact]?

"Wouldn't it make sense for them to have a channel competing with CNN? Wouldn't it make sense for them to be the first to compete with Al-Jazeera, for example? Isn't it embarrassing that Al-Jazeera, the Gulf States, Turkey, and almost every other country have channels for education, preaching, and information, while the Arab viewer in the Arab states barely knows a single Jewish or Israeli channel?

"The TV screens are full of channels broadcasting economics, financial analyses, stock exchange and bank news, [and reports on] the price of gold, silver, and diamonds. [On the other hand], there is not a single Israeli or Jewish channel that shows the face of the people said to 'worship money and gold,' which targets the rich peoples of the Gulf, or the 'Arab Spring' countries, or the general viewership, in order to influence their revolutions or to market certain goods...

"Watching TV and [reading] print media in the region, [one might ask] how many of them serve Israel, praise the role of the Jews, or lean towards Zionism? Who among us knows a famous anchor or reporter from the Jewish Israeli media sector? How many prominent Israeli singers and dancers exist [to back the claim that] 'Jews are behind perversion, weakening, softness, corruption, and immorality'; or that they are the ones who market these goods in an attempt to destroy the Arab and Muslim youth, and to realize the plots envisioned by The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, The Freemasons, Rotary Clubs, etc...

"Why don't the Israelis devote themselves to media and to TV broadcasts in order to 'improve their image in the media,' while we spend millions doing it? And while we are at it, [we must ask] why we don't even hear about the existence of the Israeli radio station Voice of Israel, which broadcasted to the Arab world for many years?..."
