Gentlemen, There is a Historical Record - Part II: A Palestinian Invasion

by Amnon Lord

Read Part I here.

Look at the Palestinians who flee from Syria and the jihadists who enter it and you'll understand why Abu Mazen fears the establishment of a Palestinian state.

A significant number of Palestinian Arabs live in Syria. It cannot be that they have been spared all the effects of the war. But the international media ignores what is happening to them for known reasons. The two Israeli attacks that shook the Assad regime worry the British "Guardian"  more than 80 thousand fatalities. And if you haven't read the contortions of this newspaper, which tries to prove that it is not Bashar who used poison gas, but perhaps actually the rebels, you have never seen defensive propaganda in your life. The Guardian goes to great lengths to defend Assad from the Israelis and from the accusations of using weapons of mass destruction. So should we expect to get the reports that at least 2,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Syrian war? Khaled Abu Toameh reports that almost 300 thousand Palestinians have become homeless during the war. Tens of thousands of them have fled to Lebanon.

Now it is possible to understand why Abu Mazen so much fears the establishment of a Palestinian state. If he had taken
seriously the UN's exercise, establishing the state of Palestine last November, he would insist that the Palestinian population suffering in Syria find shelter in the Palestinian state. But even if a Palestinian state had been established, it still would not have resulted in Palestinians bringing peace and tranquility to the land. We would see a Muslim invasion with jihadist cadres overwhelming the Fatah regime within a few days and then they would bring to the Land of Israel all the chaos of the great civil war now occurring in the Muslim world.

No security fence would be able to stop the demographic explosion. After the internal intifada eliminated the PLO-Fatah regime it would roll right into Israel. Then, the Arabs west of the Jordan would clearly become a huge majority compared to the Jews. And they would not accept the logic that a huge Arab majority must be limited to two small strips of land such as the West Bank and Gaza, and the Guardian and Noam Chomsky and perhaps a newspaper would support their claims, which would be just under those circumstances. It's good that some of the Palestinians in the PA have an interest in preventing this from happening.
